By the Power of Greyskull!
The Other Amazing Jonathan (aka
lordofthesynth) made a comment in my last post that was spot on, it turns out. For today, armed with a bank account in better shape than I'd thought and a pretty awesome 10% off/no payments or interest for a year coupon, I went in almost certain I'd be picking up either the Takamine or Martin acoustic/electric basses I'd been eyeballing for at least a couple years.
In what turned out to be a fortunate turn of events, neither of these was in stock. And with my only option being a Fender acoustic priced at $900, I was left wandering the electric bass room being underwhelmed by the selection until I saw it, nestled high up on the wall, playing hard to get. As if we'd never exchanged pleasantries. As if we were strangers.
Ours had always been a coy, polite thing. Casual, playful, teasing. But today I guess she sensed I was after something, and over the coils and background hum of an overabused Ampeg 1200 or something, she threw me against a wall and showed me how bad she wanted it and made me realize how bad I wanted it too.
Ladies and gentlemen, the Fender Geddy Lee J-Bass, the newest addition to my apartment. So sleek, so powerful, so deliciously naughty.
And tonight (and every night hereafter), she is mine.
Mmm.
